about us

It all started with a riding lesson at the age of 4.  My parents thought it would help their pony crazed daughter get over her obsession.  It didn’t.  I eventually wore my parents down and my first pony, named Comanche, came into my life when I was 10.  Every day I did the work that comes with having a horse; I fed him, I mucked his stall, I groomed him and I cleaned his tack.  And every day he would come up with a new way to unseat me.  It was a routine.  Once I demonstrated that I was not going to give up my parents bought me the pony I had fallen in love during lessons and showing.  I loved Bourbon very much.  She taught me compassion.  She is a big reason of who I am today.

Fast forward a ‘few’ years and I was finally in a position to get a dog.  I researched many breeds but kept finding myself drawn to the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.  I loved their temperament, size and grace.  I then started researching breeders.  That is when I found Anne Eckersley of Chadwick Cavaliers.  I was fortunate enough for Anne to take me under her wing and give me my first Cavalier, Luke.  I started attending CKCSC, USA specialties, met a lot of people and put a Rally Novice title on Luke.  By that time I had proven that I was serious and Anne gave me my first show dog, Scotch.

Scotch and I learned the ropes together.  I went from show to show: asking, watching and learning.  Through trial and error I started to understand how to properly train, condition and show a dog.  I’ve owner handled Scotch to his CKCSC Championship and Junior Warrant and Grand Championship in AKC.

By the time I met the love of my life John in December 2010, I was knee deep in dogs and showing.  My dear friend Alison Matos was a bit nervous that John never had a pet.  Anne urged me to find something for him to do at the shows.  I didn’t listen and took him to Williamsburg for Puppy of the Year and specialty weekend.  We had a blast and now we go to the shows together.  The CKCSC is our second family.

We added Juneau in 2012 and Cosmo in 2013.  Our new addition, Cosmo, is very special to us as it is Scotch’s son.

Our goal is to own and exhibit healthy, beautiful and both physically and mentally sound dogs.  I’m a member of the Cavaliers of the Northeast, the regional club of Cavaliers King Charles Club, USA and I’m also a member of the Tuxedo Park Kennel Club which belongs to the AKC.
